Why Should We Be Wearing Ear Protection?

According to the World Health Organization, 1.1 billion people are at risk for noise induced hearing loss across the world.  In the United States, 22 million workers are exposed to loud noises every day.  We at Hearing Institute of Ontario are determined to provide solutions in hearing protection.  In particular, Phonak has come out with hearing protection products called Serenity Choice.  Phonak Serenity Choice has six products to support patients in enjoying music, hunting and shooting, motorsports, work, sleep, and comfort.

They include:

Serenity Choice Music is designed for musicians, music lovers, and concert goers. This option offers 10dB of attenuation.  It provides a tuned, flat attenuation response so all frequencies are reduced by almost the same level. This aims to make the music sound as natural as possible.

Serenity Choice Hunting & Shooting provides protection from high impulse noises such as gunshots, artillery fire, and explosions. When no sound peaks are present, this option will provide a low attenuation allowing voices and background noise to be heard making this the perfect solution for avid sportsmen.

Serenity Choice Motorsport is designed to reduce wind noise, making it a desirable option for motorsport hobbyists. At higher speeds, riders are exposed to excessive noise through turbulent airflow around the helmet. This option reduces the effects of that wind-noise.

Serenity Choice Work is designed for noisy work environments such as factories, farming, and construction with the ability to reduce the sound level by 9-16dB. For very loud situations, this option can be combined with earmuffs when extra protection is required.

Serenity Choice Sleep is designed for those that have a chronic snorer in their life! Moderate snoring ranges from 50-60dB and a severe snorer can reach 90dB. This option will reduce the sound level by 16dB reducing sound down to a non-intrusive level sending wearers back into a peaceful sleep.

Serenity Choice Comfort is designed to reduce constant noise in an open-office environment. Whether it’s the hum of an air conditioner or consistent telephone ringing, this option has filters that provide sound reduction for a more comfortable environment.

The products are budget friendly and come with a 2 year warranty.  Please contact the Hearing Institute of Ontario if you would like more information.  We are dedicated to protecting your hearing for years to come.
